Aventurine is a hexagonal (trigonal), silicon dioxide member of the Quartz family, with a crypto-crystalline structure. It can be found in other colours too, each with their own properties. It's most common colour is green, which we look at here. This green colouring comes from microscopic Fuchsite partials. Found most frequently in Italy and Brazil, (it catches it's name from "a venture", a type of Italian glass.) Aventurine was called the "stone of the Amazons," because the Brazilian deposits were believed to have supplied jewels and talismans for the Amazonian warriors.
Green Aventurine is frequently used for the heart, circulation, and cardiovascular system. It is thought by some people to be useful for cholesterol levels. It is also added to healing repertoires more generally as it has associations with regeneration, cellular repair and recovery. Often selected for use during migraines, it is interestingly said to have associations with poor eye site too. Within elixirs, it is added to remedies for inflammation and problematic skin, as well as used as a tonic for the adrenals and nervous system and for enhancing homeopathy. It is a great crystal for children, as it is thought to have a soothing effect of hyperactivity, helping focus. It's frequently used in growth stimulation programs too. It is given to children who suffer with classroom stress, and who's racing minds prevent them sleeping well at night.
Frequently used as a talisman for general good luck, and carried by those who like "a flutter", Green Aventurine is thought to provide a sense of confidence, hope, and optimism, as well as a youthful outlook and zest for life. This helps when facing challenges, navigating life changes, or creating new patterns. It helps us take life in our stride. Replenishing our energy stores when feeling exhausted, we can find ourselves using humour in these situations. It helps us to perceive core emotions that may be underpinning illness, whilst preventing us from being over analytical. It brings stability to those who are irritable or easily angered, as well as aiding people who are overly sensitive or easily wounded by the words and actions of other people.
