Sodalite - Properties, benefits, uses, meanings, associations

Although one of the most commonly sold, Sodalite is a fairly recent discovery within the crystal world, only being identified in the 19th century. It is famed for it's ability to help introspection in multiple ways, making it an excellent stone for philosophers, writers, students, teachers and business people. It gained popularity for helping eloquent communication, and earned the nickname "the poet's stone" because of that. Helping us to reflect, organise our thoughts, communicate our feelings, and become deeply receptive to our intuition, it is the ideal stone companion for any deep personal, or spiritual journey.

Sodalite helps us take inventory of our own motivations, strengths and weaknesses and does so whilst bringing a sense of detachment, enabling us to recognise patterns and analyse behaviours without the influence of old rigid thought patterns, and to remain emotionally balanced. This in turn provides us with tools for genuine self-assessment and self improvement planning without the risk of over sensitivity to what may be revealed to us! It's powerful ability to enhance intuition and spiritual perception gives opportunity for deep, resounding work.

Sodalite is ideal for use by therapists and practitioners, who may benefit from enhanced pattern recognition in those they are needing to read. It also enhances discernment and intuition, helping us seek and find truth. Not only this, but it enhances the ability to interpret what is received, and translate and communicate this clearly to the client in a non-judgmental way. For hypnotherapy clients, it is a stone thought to enhance trace and meditative states too.

Sodalite is energetically cleansing and cooling, making it useful in fever management or hot flushes. It is believed to help with calcium deficiency, and as a mineral that many women begin to have lower levels of in later life, this cooling, calcium enhancing combination could be ideal for menopausal use. Like other calcium enhancing stones, Sodalite is also believed by many to help maintain blood pressure, fluid balance, and metabolism, although there does not seem to be a direct correlation with Sodalite and bones, which is certainly interesting! It is favourited by singers for it's effect on the vocal chords and soothing sore throats and is believed to help with electromagnetic pollution, something which can be an issue around sound equipment. Together with its help with phobias and communication, this would be great for public speakers too!
