Often one of the first healing crystals a person is attracted to, due to it's bright coloured flashes and iridescence, Labradorite is thought of as the gemstone of magic. It has a vast list of traditional and folk uses in spiritual and energetic work, often used to connect with, reveal, and learn about, this aspect of our inner being. It is believed to help dreams and aspirations not seem out of reach. Thought of as of the most powerful stones to support your intentions, it helps you go after what you long to achieve.
It is almost the polar opposite of grounding stones, lifting our minds out of the natural and into the spiritual. Whilst doing this, it deflects unwanted energy and protects us from the draining of our energy by others. A great stone for introverts and empaths on their spiritual journey, although sometimes wise to pair with a grounding stone in these cases for healthy balance.
Labradorite as we know it was discovered in 1770 by Moravian missionaries in Canada. It takes it's name from the Labrador peninsula, where it was found. However it is believed to have been used over 1000 years ago by The Red Paint People of Maine, as well as ancient Innuits.
Labradorite also has a multitude of physical traditional and folk uses too! Like it's friend the moonstone, it is a great crystal for women. Believed by many to be useful at times when hormone balance is needed, such as pre-menstrual symptoms for example. It is also thought to be a calming stone, linking it to blood pressure and stress applications. Yet with it's spiritual edge, it can be useful for helping reveal underlying issues within mystery illnesses as it seeks to bring self-awareness and intuition, as well as revelation of things that are hidden. Why not pop one under your pillow at night, and see what comes to you in your dreams?
