Geranium is a very popular oil and a firm favourite with multiple brands. It has a powerful, sweet, floral aroma with distinct minty undertones. and is distilled from the geranium leaves, flower or stalks. It helps to restore balance to your skin while rebalancing your emotions and hormones by enhancing your mood. Geranium is now grown mainly in Réunion, China, and Egypt. but was originally a native of South Africa. Only 10 out of the 700 different varieties of the Pelargonium plant can be used to make the essential oil.
Geranium essential oil is very versatile. It helps to eliminate excess water and reduce puffiness. This makes it useful for mild oedema. It can relieve neuralgia pain and discomfort and pain caused by shingles. It is famous for it's ability to balance emotions and is a natural antidepressant due to it being both calming and uplifting, Another use for it due to this effect is reducing restlessness and anxiety in children as well as adults. For teenagers, it is a often a go to oil. It also helps to balance the secretion of sebum on the skin and is therefore good for acne with it's Its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. For adults this action combined with it's ability to tone the scalp makes it a useful treatment for flaky dandruff. and Its reviving effect helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and blemishes. Geranium essential oil’s cooling and balancing properties can help to relieve menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
